Heidi Klum’s Met Gala Dress tk

It’s a Roman statue! It’s a mime! It’s … Heidi Klum?

Klum, the host of “Project Runway,” who has seemingly never come across a dress code she couldn’t commit to, turned up dressed as a statue, the kind you might find inside the Greek and Roman wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

As she stood on the red carpet, Klum looked as if she had a flowing veil draped around her head. But the whole piece was made from latex, and was immovably affixed to her face. Her hands and feet, peeking out from under the veil, were painted white like alabaster, down to her nails.

“I look hard, but I’m soft,” Klum told Ashley Graham and Cara Delevingne on the Vogue livestream.

Klum’s custom Mike Marino look took four-and-a-half hours to assemble, and was inspired by classical works like the “Veiled Christ” by Giuseppe Sanmartino and the “Veiled Vestal” by Raffaele Monti, according to a statement from her representative. When did the idea occur to her? “I went walking around in the Met,” she said.
