Panaji: Goa’s free AI-powered lung cancer screening programme has completed more than 1.37 lakh screenings, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said on Friday.
In a post on X, Rane said the programme, being implemented in partnership with AstraZeneca and Qure. ai, has so far carried out 1,37,743 screenings across the coastal state, without specifying when it was launched.
“Every scan is a step towards a healthier Goa,” the minister said, adding that the initiative is bringing advanced diagnostics and early detection closer to the people.
According to Rane, the use of artificial intelligence in lung cancer screening is helping ensure timely intervention, improved health outcomes and wider access to quality healthcare.
“By combining technology with preventive healthcare, we are ensuring timely intervention, better outcomes, and greater access to quality healthcare for all,” he said.
The minister said the state government remains committed to building a healthcare system that is accessible, affordable and focused on saving lives. The AI-powered lung cancer screening programme is aimed at facilitating early diagnosis of the disease, which experts say significantly improves treatment outcomes.
